Who We Are
Saving Lives, Spreading Hope
The Shwas Foundation, founded in 2005 by Dr. Jeevan Ranjana Jagannath Sagare, began with a mission to make lifesaving blood easily accessible to those in need. Our initial focus was on organizing blood donation camps across Pune City, in collaboration with NSS Program Coordinators from Pune University and colleges in both urban and rural areas. Alongside these efforts, we also conducted hemoglobin check-up camps and iron deficiency awareness programs to educate and uplift rural communities.
In 2008, we expanded our reach by opening a blood storage center in Miraj, Sangli district, Maharashtra. This facility, managed entirely by Shwas Foundation and attached to a well-known hospital, provided a crucial service to a community that heavily depended on whole blood supplies. Our center went further by offering additional blood components, including Packed Cell Volume (PCV), Platelets, Plasma, and Single Donor Platelets (SDP), ensuring that patients received the precise blood products they needed.
To meet the rising demand for advanced blood services, we established a state-of-the-art blood bank in Miraj in 2010. This milestone, celebrated with the support of leading medical professionals, marked a new chapter in our mission to save lives. Today, the Shwas Foundation continues to be a trusted lifeline, delivering essential blood products and services to hospitals and communities in need.
